I meant a central air conditioning unit.

All the HAC people I've ever talked to recommend putting the central air unit outside the house, in a somewhat sheltered place with unrestricted airflow. Generally it's also on a north side, or side of the house which gets the least hot in the afternoon.

You may need to check with the building codes for your neighborhood. They may have guidelines about central AC unit placement and visibility.

Could you expand on this? What kind of a/c unit -window mounted? Portable? or will it work in conjuction of your forced air unit?

Be sure to choose a location where it will not bother you running, this includes the backyard or under a window where you may be sleeping or something. Also, do not disturb the neighbours too much. But you also must choose a location close to the furnace, to increase efficiency, and reduce installation costs.

Good Luck!

Hello

Most people put them either in a window or install the air conditioner through a wall.

Have fun!
