of course they should. You would think this would be a given, but some people are conceited or are crazy religious zealots and think life revolves around them and their man-made beliefs.

The gay community needs to stop trying to push the marriage thing because it's based on a religion that frowns on homosexuality.
Instead a better focus would be to make a 'Court Agreement' where the same Type of benefits would be available to the couple.
If 2 people unite under a Court Agreement then it should be handled with the same strictness that a Church Marriage is. Custody would be granted to the most able spouse, ect. Decisions would be made beforehand and contracts signed and approved by the court, as well as the ceremony being performed in the Courthouse (symbolizing a legal union recognized by the law) Let the Christians have their sacred union, and CREATE one of your own that is just as meaningful.
In other words Go through the back door to achieve what you want! No pun intended.

They should not get any benefits/ financial rights because it is not a true marriage. Two gays cannot have children no matter how hard they try. Having two gay parents is worse then going through a divorce since the child grows up his entire life without a mother/father figure in an immoral environment.

They do in some states as far as legality is concerned and I mean financially and materialistically. Although they are not looked upon as a permanent relationship in most states, in the states that do support their union the legal right are the same as are the financial rights but not in the case of divorce since it is not looked upon as a marriage as the same as a man and a woman. It depends on the state of residence.

If we were truly a free country, they would have the same rights, as they should. Who's business is it to say who someone can or can't marry. That it is illegal that some people can't get married because of their sexual orientation is ridiculous. Gays and lesbians pay taxes the same as straight people right? What happened to equal rights anyway? What a joke!

I totally agree !!!!!Life can be hard enough without extra financial traumas with life insurance ,superannuation etc.. It seems in the realm of simple human rights really .....there should be a partnership contract like in business perhaps ..
