In my experience. . .a relationship cannot thrive without it.
Well. . .you should always leave a bit of mystery, absolutely, but it is paramount that the lines are open both ways.

Yes, it is...and it should be done the right way, which is different for everyone. If there's no communication, or if two people are communicating but aren't willing to bend a little, then there's just two people, sitting around, waiting for the next thing. I don't quite know how to explain this, but I know exactly what it feels like to have a lack of communication, as well as an inability to clearly express what I'm thinking or feeling in the first place.

You lasted longer than I did, DW...I went to bed before I even saw this...I hope you slept well :)

it is the most important thing. now matter how you may feel about someone, if you can't communicate it, it is lost. also, if communication is not open that can lead to resentment and misunderstandings--oh, heck, you see what i'm getting at don't you? be merciful, it's late. have a good night. :)

Oral communication is vital, yes, but it is the nonverbal communication that tells the true story. Keeping all lines open or agreeing upon "I am closed right now, please call again soon" is important. If you are open, be open, if you need to close down for repairs, be clear about that too, don't just close up abruptly.
