These two islands are the last in line (sun rise or set), Baker Island and Howland Island, both are American territories in the Pacific Ocean (UTC -12 time zone). The last in line (sun rise or set) country would be Samoa (UTC -11 time zone). But as stated above the two small islands are the true last. *Extra bit of info - Aleutian Islands (Alaska) are only (UTC -10) so NOT the last, they are the western most point of land for the USA, not including US territories, which are listed above .
*Kiribati islands are first sun rise each day or new year NOT last.

The westernmost point on land, according to the path of the International Date Line, would be Attu Island, Alaska.
The International date Line passes through Alaska,USA.
Hence,it will have the last sun rise of 2007 or any year.
