I was dilated at three for about the last TWO MONTHS of my second pregnancy. When my water broke, I went to the hospital, dilated to 10 and the baby STILL HAD NOT DROPPED. So, yes, it is possible to dilate without the baby dropping. In my case, they said I could wait and see if she would drop, or try pushing her to drop. I decided to cut to the chase and started pushing which did the trick.

As for "helping things a long" I don't think I'd try to the brown sugar. Try walking and stretching. Just don't walk too far from home. Just because the baby hasn't dropped, doesn't mean you won't go into labor and dilate more! (see above, :-)

You can still dilate even though you havent dropped but it will not be anything drastic. when the baby comes down then it buts pressure on the cervix and helps it dilate... as for the brown sugar thing i am not sure myself

You shouldn't drink anything to start labor. The baby will come when he/she is ready. I know you must be tired already but if your doctor has not induced the labor that means the baby is ok and he/she will be here soon. What you can do is go for a walk or even have sexual intercourse ( orgasims can start labor). Good Luck.

hi-all women and pregnancies are different-
some babies dont 'drop' until right when labor begins.

there is nothing you can do to help things along--unless you are already in the beginning stages of labor.

You can be, but it's not as likely until your baby becomes engaged in your pelvis.

My advice is to let things be and don't do anything to "help everything along". Your baby will come when he/she is good and ready. :)
