Usually a plastic bag is inside the urn. Most places put 'Aunt Sally" in a plastic bag (my husbands Grandfather was in a ziplock). You took up what you could leave it at that. I think it would be traumatic for others to learn about the yard incident. Now she will forever be a part of your home. No harm was really done in the end, not like she is really there anymore.
I can't help but think this is a joke, if it's not I apologize. My husbands Grandfather was divided up, some in Bridgeport, CA. A little more in Yosemite. Then there were cousins asking for some. And that is NOT a joke.

Well I would not say anything unless someone notices, but in most cases when someone is creamated they are inside a unopened bag, and to even think of putting fireplace ashes or bbq ashes in to replace, thats a huge NO NO, first off a humans ashes are much different and more coarse then those of a fire. Shame on you all for suggesting such a horrible replacement to someones loved one.

Tell them you wanted to set Aunt Sally free, so you had a memorial service in your front yard and spread the ashes.
OR
You can go clean out the bbq grill and fill the urn back up and no one will know the difference. (Make sure to pick out those little pieces of aluminum foil from the grill though).

I am so sorry for laughing. What was Aunt Sally doing outside anyway? She was supposed to stay inside. Is this a joke? It must be a joke? Poor Aunt Sally. Do not tell anyone. I am honestly trying hard not to laugh. Really.
