Here is a site that shows a couple of techniques on how adult circumcision is done.

Adult circumcisions are usually performed under a local anaesthetic and are painless. The local is injected round the base of the penis, after which the foreskin is pulled back and cut round beneath the head, about 1 cm back from the groove. The shaft skin is then pulled forwards and is cut round again so that the remaining skin will meet up with the first cut line when stretched slightly (for a tight and complete circumcision) The sleeve of skin between the two cuts is then removed and discarded and the two cut edges are sutured together using dissolving suture. A dressing is finally applied and the job's done! After about a week the sutures start to fall out and should all be gone by the two week mark. After three weeks things will have healed and the residual swelling will disappear over the next few weeks. There's nothing to it and a circumcision is well worth having because it provides better hygiene, comfort, appearance to women, self-esteem and FAR better sex for both the man and his female partner(s) There is no downside and all men should be circumcised.

Browse a bit in this category of Yahoo Answers and read the questions from guys who are trying to deal with the pain and lack of sleep that follow a circumcision. Despite the pro-circumcision propaganda a few people post here, it IS painful, especially when you get an erection (just try not to!) for several weeks.

After a few months the physical pain goes away and you are left with the mental pain of knowing that you have made a terrible mistake and will never be whole again. Then you may decide that "misery loves company" and come on this site to try to talk other unsuspecting guys into getting their manhood chopped because you can't stand the thought that anyone out there isn't suffering the way you are.

Easy, quick and with anesthesia, painless.

CIRCUMCISION IS VERY BENEFICIAL, its cleaner, healthier and several prestigious research institutions have proved that circumcised men have less risk of contracting STD's such as AIDS-HIV, syphilis or herpes.

Uncircumcised penises are difficult to keep clean, and more prone to infections and penile cancer, studies have shown.
A circumcised penis is naturally clean and virtually free from urinary infections. You will not have to worry again with careful washing of your penis.

About STD's:

As I said, several studies carried out by prestigious research bodies have proved that uncircumcised penises are more prone to infections and contraction of STD's, including AIDS-HIV. It has been confirmed that circumcised men are up to 70% less likely to be infected than those who are uncircumcised. Have a look at this site: http://www.torontodailynews.com/index.php/HealthNews/2006121404Circumcision

As for women, studies also show that circumcision also protects female partners from AIDS-HIV and other STD's. Browse this article: http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/Press_releases/2006/02_08_06.html

About sensitivity of a circumcised penis:

NO medical or physiological study has ever shown that circumcision reduces sensitivity, opposed to common belief. It is completely FALSE that circumcision reduces penis sensitivity. The American Academy of Paediatrics (AAP) confirms this on their web site; have a look at: http://www.aap.org/pubed/zzzjzmemh4c.htm

Circumcision is an easy and nowadays *painless* procedure, which has many benefits, and virtually no risks.
Circumcision is NOT an amputation. Circumcision is NOT comparable at all to female circumcision, which is something completely different.

Circumcision rates are INCREASING nowadays, both in the United States and overseas. Many African, Asian and Latin American countries with little circumcision tradition are starting to promote the procedure to help to reduce the AIDS-HIV infection rates.

Finally, this site has a lot of useful and *unbiased* information. Make sure you have a good look: http://www.circinfo.net

the penis is thoroughly cleansed with an iodine solution, you are then put to sleep (iv's started, endotracheal tube inserted.....et cetera)
the foreskin is rolled back, and the incision begins all the way around the penis. the foreskin is then rolled back and the incision begins on the other side. when the incision is complete they will remove it.
they then approximate the two 'cut' sides together and wrap your penis in Vaseline gauze. it will stay this way for about a week and the two cut edges will start to grow together...when this is healed, you will now have a glans that shows.
