Sadam certainly didn't sit on death row for ten years, did he? I think justice was served in a timely manner. I think America could take note of this.

The answer is obvious. How is the crime rate in Iraq? It is abysmal. So if we started behaving like animals eventually the streets would be filled with animals. The degradation is inevitable.

Yes the crime rates would drop along with wars , wiretapping etc. Perhaps for the most notorious a bag of pretzels would do nicely.

No. Look at the anarchy in Iraq now--kidnapping for ransom and "just because", thefts, looting...

The only lasting way to drop crime rates (not necessarily eliminate): Either complete dictatorship a la Saddam and Hitler and multiple others--or more jobs with living wages, pure and simple.

I think that the crime rates would drop, but I don't think we should just start hanging people.

Well....you wouldn't know until you are on the other side of the swift justice and you know that you are innocent. Just look at the old rape and murder convictions that are being overturned after several years and decades.

I am not trying to be a softy, but let us not fall for the neocon philosophies again....Let us be careful about what we are asking for

No. Reward works better than punishment. In creating a taboo or intensifying a punishment, the unwarranted or unwanted (in this case illegal) action becomes more exciting. Thus, by making such punishments there would in fact be more criminals.

No. Do you think the execution of Saddam Hussein is really going to bring peace to Iraq? Keep watching the news and see how it goes.

What you are suggesting isn't hanging criminals as in people who commit crimes. You are suggesting we kill anyone who goes through the court room. We have due process for a reason.

We do hang people in the USA. It's just now being phased out by more humane methods.
