I have found that most of today's films seem dark, morbid, and shallow.

Angry American, I agree with you 100%. Dark, shallow,morbid and too damn much sex.
Movies are not fit for kids under 16 any more.

Yes. Hollywood is dark and shallow in the movies, which in case sucks. I don't even bother watching a horror movie now because they're just a bunch of gore. I mean take that "Horrorfest" that came out AFTER halloween(Which was mistake number one...) and all those "Too extreme to be rated"(Mistake number two) films they THOUGHT were going to rake in huge amounts of cash. I think hollywood is putting too much realism in their movies and somebody forgot to tell them "Yo! They go to the movies to ESCAPE that stuff!"

Yeah, since the Ring seems like or maybe 6th sense, the creepy kind of movies are reigning. I guess that's what the people want and until they stop making money they are going to keep churnin them out.

Most of today's movies are either really really really good but so few in those numbers, or just taking advantage of a culture that is hellbent on finding any form of entertainment that they can sell us crap with a beautiful package.

Some of the big blockbusters seem incredibly insipid. Mostly the way too corny comedies and romances.
