It would be best to have the codes pulled. then you know where to start. if there is a misfire code for any cylinder then start with maintenance. when was the last tune up?

i own a repair shop, and the only thing that will ,make one back fire is the timing,,it may have jumped on you ,,if you have worked on it,and got a plug wire crossed that will cause it too,,but timing is what makes a car back fire, and also a vacuum leak can help contribute to this also,on those vans i have replaced a lot of timing gears, especially if it has over a 100 k on it,,that's usually what it is,,you may want to check this,,or have it checked,,if its doing it bad now,,it may jump the rest of the way out,,leaving you stranded some where,i have done a few of these before,,there not to bad to do,,good luck with it hope this help,s,.also check the cap for moisture,,happy new years.

I am guessing that your check engine light is on..Go to Auto Zone or Advanced Auto parts and they will run a computer scan for you free...to find out just how many cylinders you are misfiring on...First, depending on when you last tune up was, I would suggest pull dist. cap and check for cracks and check rotor, if they look ok, then check wires for burned spots, if present replace wires..and plugs...

Check your spark plugs, spark plugs wires, distributor cap, rotor button. The problem is in the firing. Mainly check plugs.
