Perhaps, but the trick to having nuclear weapons is not using them. The world is much more unsafe as the US and others posess the weapons. To get rid of them means to subject themselves to more risk of attack by others since nukes are deterrent. BUT, the US, UK, India, Pakistan, Israel, China, Russia and many others have proven that can own them without using them. They are relatively stable governments also. When Russia was transformed, there was m ust nervousness that they would use their nukes indiscriminately...they didn;t.
The problem with Iran and North Korea is that they are irrational governments. Each has an agenda that is bigger than their sense of world cooperation. If Iran decides to use a nuke to serve Allah, they will justify to do so, whether it is to attack Israel, Iraq or the US. That is an unstable thought. The US will not do so, else we would have when we were attacked by Iran through the capture of th embassy (a US territory). There is the difference. The world is safer with an unstable country like Iran, Iraq or North Korea with Nukes.

If the world looks the other way as Iran develops a nuclear warhead, there is no doubt in my mind that we will be very sorry. Iran's president has made threats, against Isreal specifically, and if he gets a nuke he will use it. I'm not crazy about the fact that we and other countries have nuclear arsenals, but I'm reasonably sure that these weapons won't be used. If a crazy like Iran's president gets a nuke he will use it.

Nuclear industries and weapons are economical issue more than being political ones. everybody knows Iran or any other countries are far from being so crazy to use nuclear bombs on peoples. I think with execution of Saddam Hussein the era of active governmental terrorism is gone. USA either will never use nuclear bombs like what had happened in Hiroshima. They just support terrorists hiddenly and provide forces for opposite governments by them. I name this: the era of passive governmental terrorism.
Anyway, if Iran achieve nuclear industry, this country want his share of the whole market and this is not acceptable for present owners. they will do their best to stop Iran and this country will do his best to achieve it. what will happen? another war? who knows?

Of course Iran can have nuclear weapons. But it would be like giving a loaded pistol to a three-year-old.
By the way, Japan didn't surrender until it was threatened that the THIRD bomb would drop on Tokyo. And you don't hear too much about how they dropped rice on China to draw the rats. The rice had plague-infected fleas mixed in with it.

Because
1) Iran started 20 years ago and only disclosed them a few years back when the West found out about it.
2) Iran's leader calls for the annihilation of a near-by nation.
3) Iran has no respect for human rights
4) some more I don't have time to explain right now.

the U. S. invaded Afghanistan - Iran's neighbour. the U. S. invaded Iraq - Iran's neighbour. the U. S. did no longer invade North Korea, which has some nuclear weapons. Plus: Iran is being threatened by utilising Israel, which has - you guessed it - nuclear weapons.

I agree with your last statement, in part. I also think the US should keep to itself more often than not. However, when you have a powerful nation, who's power base is run by radicals bent on destruction, I think we - and all other nations - have the right to intervene.
As I type this, I realize that the US is beginning to fit that description pretty well also. Sad...

Oh yes, I agree let's just hand them over to them and see how long it takes for them to use them in their terrorists acts. Are you serious?
Your question in itself is just laughable.
You are talking about a country who stones women to death and you want to hand them nuclear weapons? If they can't handle stones how can they possibly handle a nuclear weapon?
No one is saying Hirosima and Nagasaki are forgotten. These were mistakes, hence why we do not want history to repeat itself. But the Japenese made mistakes as well. As the neice of someone who was a prisoner of war in the Batton Death March I assure you cruelty was not a one way street. Japan and America have worked hard to heal the wounds on both sides of ww2. That is not the issue here.
Right now there are many women in Iran awaiting death by stoning. Agaiin I will repaeat if they can't handle stones how can they handle the potential to kill people in large amounts knowing they have supported terrorists in many countries, including insurgents in Iraq. Iran is doing everything possible to insure democracy doesn't succeed in Iraq. That is a fact. The Iraqi citizens are persecuted by these insurgents, tortured by fellow muslims, yet you want to hand these same people nuclear weapons?
Instead of telling us all how wrong we are not to hand over nuclear weapons to Iran...
Why aren't you focusing on the true outrages in this world like those we are awaiting their fate and will be stoned to death?
There are women in Iranian prisons waiting to be stoned to death. One in particular was just 17 when she was stabbed and killed the man who stabbed her in self defense as he was attempting to rape her 14 year old neice. http://www.myspace.com/savenazanin...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/nazanin_mah...
Stop pointing fingers and turning a blind eye to the archaic autrocities Iran commits against even fellow Muslims!
Perhaps Iran should mind it's own business and stay out of Iraq and keep their insurgents in their own country and while they are at it perhaps they should stay out of Isreal, Palestine and Jordan. As well as stop teaming up with Syria in attempt to control others by terrorizing them.
