If some one came to you and said, for the next 2 years you could only choose one young sapling of any type of tree in the world to to start to create into or keep as a Bonsai, which type of tree would you choose?... ----- Yes, it's real tough to pick just one :]

honestly, i would try to find a way to get a real bonsai tree, it may cost a small fourtune but i would cherish it. you do know the real ones take 400 years to get even 3 or 4 feet tall. they are most unique and interesting of tree species next to the iron wood familyof tree species. -also... you could probly order one from china online but be verry carefull with them as they are delicate and should be treated as such, it would be a shame to have one die due to carelessness or neglagence and you realy should reaserch the plant fully as to care for it proper like and all. good luck.

I believe Junipers make the best "bonsai Trees". Here is more information on bonsai.

I have never done one but I saw a Japanese Maple as a Bonsai one time that was just beautiful. Good luck with your choice.

A redwood sucker. Just because that's what lives around here, and the redwood is such a huge tree, that to grow one tiny would be a trip.

i really don't know much about bonsai or what type of trees would even work but if I could't use any tree I would use a Willow tree.

Ulmus parvifolia... Chinese Weeping elm... they look so awesome as bonsai... they look great full size anyway but they're sort of perfect when they're tiny.
