the thing here is the mainly the 9/11 attacks. don't get me wrong, i do not agree with their reasoning or any kind of bigotry. but people associate all muslims to the 9/11 attacks and therefore they take out all the frustration and hatred from those events out on all muslims. this is the wrong thing to do. lets say a group of guys blow up a school or a govt building and all of them were methodists. would the victims and the western society take out all their frustration and hatred out on all methodist. no they wouldn't and the reason is that methodists are a well known and accepted member of the western society. the muslim faith is not as common and fairly new to the western countries. it is considered an eastern religion. the problem that they have is that they do not take the time to do any research to find out what the muslim religion is about. if they did they would not treat you the way they do. by the same token if a group of wicken were to do the same act the victims and society would treat all wicken the same as they treat muslims. because it is not nearly as accepted as the so called christian religions. so you see, it all boils down to what is accepted as a normal religion and how much people know about that particular religion. personally i consider myself non denominational christian, but i do not agree with any bigotry of any kind towards others for any reason except their ignorance there own bigotry. i do not know you personally but you sound like a decent person with a big heart. don't let it get you down. i know that is easier said than done sometimes but that is all we have. take care.

It may be because they feel bad about themselves. I personally am a Christian, however, through my beliefs, I am not one to judge. The Creator is. So therefore all I can do is pray you will see the light. You already are a great and courageous person for posting your question, others are too chicken. People are doing so horribly they can't believe in anything true, so if someone else is happy, they fel it's their duty to bring down a person who knows themself. It takes some people years of searching their own soul before they come to a rational conclusion about themselevs, let alone what or who they believe in! Keep your head up brother. I love you. And so does our Creator. (Also, to the people who just had to be rude, he nicely asked if you would not be cruel. Judge not, lest ye be judged. And he said he was muslim, not of Asian or Arab decent. Not all muslims wear turbins. Besides we are all sons and daughters of Abraham. He is your brother in Christ. Even if not believed. I will pray.

Personally, I believe its because of the LACK of Clerics speaking out AGAINST so many things. We never see clerics speak out against suicide bombers, hateful speech, terrorism, etc. I know you may see and hear it, but "we" don't. I think that is alot of the problem for me. I would LOVE to see and hear moderate clerics denounce some of what is going on. It just hasn't happened, therefore, I think they must be 1) afraid to speak out for fear of being different, 2) terrified of death threats or 3) believe what's being said.
So sorry for saying anything negative. But, when your religions own book says we are no more than "cows" when we are visiting in your land, and than if a Muslim kills us, that muslim should never be executed for it, it just kind of gives a bad impression!
Like no matter "how good a friend we could become" we would always be a "second class citizen" to a muslim. And to a Westerner that's just not going to be acceptable.

There is plenty on unrest between people of different religions and Muslims have gotten a bad rap becuase of Iraq. Americans have a bad habit of hating people for absolutely no realistic reason whatsoever. Just stay away from those idiots.

Well first off.. I find it hard that people would be mean just for religion.. Are you letting people know who you are first without putting your religion out there.
Let people get to know you first!
I am a Christian.. and one thing we are taught in church is let our daily living be the testimony... Dont announce that your Muslim.. show how you want Muslims to be viewed!
The power is within you! People have power if you give it to them.. Show your difference.. And dont be so offended.. I hear crap all the time.. I just stay quiet and really try to walk the good walk!

It is because of the Muslim extremists. There is no way to tell one muslim from the other by looking at them, so people are afraid of all muslims. It will only get worse as the extremists do what they are doing..
In a poll in England 10% of the muslims polled sait that they would have helped the terrorists blow up airplanes. 70% said that they would NOT have told the police, if they had known.
With those kind of numbers my friend your problems are only going to get worse. And I do not mean to be hard on you, but Islam is going to make war on the western society and you will have to choose sides. It is sad but true.

Perhaps they equate the fundamentalist nonsense that's going on Iraq and Afghanistan with the actual religion. More fool them. The Five Pillars are not at all about world domination and the introduction of Shar'iah Law across the world.

I don't treat you bad by totally disagreeing with your religion in posts here. I don't know of any Muslims in this neighborhood but I know that the local pagan doesn't get harassed for his beliefs. You've had your car egged, your house and yard toilet papered and windows busted out? Been refused a job or kicked out of school? You in jail or fined for saying things Muslim? What are we talking about here specifically when you say "treated bad"?Religious persecution is different from racial slurs. If people aren't interested in your message, don't take it personally. They call me names for giving out the Christian message from the Bible. They might blame you for 9/11 like they blame us for Matthew S's murder. You are innocent until proven guilty in my book. We aren't bombing the mosques here the last I checked either so I guess the American creed of "liberty and justice for all" is still in effect. If not, consult a lawyer. We even have lawyers liberal enough to defend traitors to this country and those who hate it so much they burn our flag even though men and women gave their lives for our freedom to worship God as our hearts dictate.

People treat you badly because the average person doesn't understand your religion, and people automatically hate and fear what they don't understand. It isn't just you that gets the abuse, either. In the USA, if you deviate from the norm at all, you're likely to be persecuted for your deviation. Unfortunately, just because _you're_ peaceful and understanding doesn't mean that 90% of the population is going to be the same.
