I just got a new laptop. It cannot go to any addresses without www in front. I need to go to a web address to register for my free Windows Vista upgrade but the computer cannot go there since it doesn't start with www. Why is this happening, and more importantly, what can I do?

Yah, I know that.

I need to go to an address with a different subdomain.

And anyways, it won't even let me go to something like southwest.com when I was looking up airlines. I had to type in www.

Most websites don't usually require you to type www. in front. Only websites that have different default subdomains do.
