I have never bought any playstation before and I was interested in buying one now that I have the money.

If I bought a new playstation 2, could I play games from playstation 1 & 3 on it? Or am I only allowed to play games from playstation 2 on it. Pls help thanks.

the ps2 really is a great buy

it plays games from ps (original system) and ps2
it plays DVDs and can even play CDs, if your heart desires

the library of games from ps[1] alone is rather large, but can be hard to find - many major game stores no longer stock them, and as they are sold out, there are no replacements (because they don't make ps games anymore)

if you add the number of games from ps2, you've got a nice library of titles, spanning so many genres of games

the ps3 is the newest system, and if you could play ps3 games on a ps2... well, then they wouldn't be selling ps3s

Playstation 2 and playstation 1 games will only play on ps 2 systems. The dvd movie feature is great with the ps2 as well. Be careful though some disney dvd's will not play on the ps 2. PLaystation 3 will play many ps 2 games but not all without the patch.
