These belts are not fixed but rather replaced. How much it will cost depends entirely on where you have it done. The belt will run around 20-25 dollars and the labor to replace it can run from 60-75 dollars. If you take your car to a "chain" type place or the dealer EXPECT to pay about double this amount. Call a couple of local shops and ask before you commit to one. Good Luck

A serpentine belt is not something you "fix", however, it is something that you replace if it breaks or starts to show signs of visable wear.

Its a relatively easy job to do and the part itself probably costs less that $20.

It depends on how complicated the belt is to replace. Nowadays fast oil change places do carry these belts and offer replacement while changing the oil. However they buy the generic / cheapest belt so they can offer it at lower price.

Buy the BEST quality rubber belt from Autozone or Pepboys and ask the mechanic how much would he charge to replace the belt and have him replace the belt while you wait. Broken belt is one of the major road car emergency.

depending on what type of vehicle it is. it can be easy or hard as hell. if its not front wheel drive. and the engine is facing twards the front. its easy to do as all you do is take a big ratchet with the right size socket to release the tensioner pully. and pull the old belt off. then you place the new belt on using the diagram sticker to route the belt the right way.

on FWD cars as the engine sits sideways. it depends on how much room it gives you from the engine to the inside fender. so depending on type of car and engine. it can be easy as pie or a pain in the butt.

not bad at all. if you look at the engine it should have a pathing diagram and all you have to do is use a ratchet to move the tensioner and slide the new one on according to the diagram. easy to do if the old one is just frayed, if it broke it will take a little extra time but if you want i know you can do it yourself.

I think once one of those breaks, you have to replace the whole thing, it should cost less than $100 for parts and labor.
