I think it's analogous to "road rage". The person at the receiving end is an anonymous "thing" that can't be seen or heard directly. It makes it easier to be impolite and angry.

When people communicate face to face, there's a lot less anger. There's still some hatred, arrogance, etc, but not nearly as much as you see in a forum like this or in traffic.

The scary thing is that this is what a lot of people are thinking all the time. This forum just makes it easier for them to express those thoughts, which they would often suppress in face to face conversations.

first off, is it a intentionally stupid question? Those beg for sacrastic answer.

second, people ask some stuff that deeply offends others, like where to locate sadistic material.

third, sometimes the person asking the question is doing it in an angry manner.

but, most people are more verbally loose online because there is little accountability and almost complete confidentiality. Individuals are allowed to vent on topics more fiercely if they are not worried about running into the vented upon at the local market.

Some people just want to have a voice and use the internet as that vehicle. Sometimes those people have something important to voice and that passion causes the message to sound insulting. There isn't really anything wrong with someone being angry; it is the way it is expressed that matters. Internet posts like this give no indication of tone, mood and context.

I can only speculate on why, and my guess would be. Becasue they are ingorant, hate filled miseable human beings. So, they are spewing forth some of their anger and frustration on others. Havent you ever heard misery loves company? Well, it is true, some are so miseable they want everyone else to join in their pity party. Rather than pick up the pieces and make the best of it, they would rather wallow in misery and try and make it worse. For whatever reason this has become comfortable and normal to them. Sad, sucks to be them. God bless****

I give serious questions my best effort because I figure, "why bother not bothering to give a decent answer".

Sometimes, though, some question will be so full of hate or ignorance toward some group (or, particuarly, toward children); and then I try to kind of make people aware of what their questions shows they don't know. I try to be polite, though; don't do it often, and kind of feel obnoxious when I do it. I try not to show hate, though.

I think the people with the fresh, hateful, one- or two-line answers just kind of think its funny.

A chance to vent anonymously and without consequences. Great for people with low self esteem, also.

Probably just letting their maturity (or lack thereof) show through. Try not to take it personally.

Sometimes I answer sarcastically. But not to be hateful or hurtful.
