Hey, to start off there are numerous penalties in the game both on offense and defense. Some of the most-common penalties are..
False start: An offensive player illegally moves after lining up for the snap. The play is dead immediately.
Offsides: A defensive player is on the wrong side of the ball at the start of a play. If play has started, the penalty is delayed pending the outcome of the play.
Holding: Illegally grasping or pulling an opponent other than the ball-carrier.
Pass interference: Illegally contacting an opponent to prevent him from catching a forward pass.
Delay of game: Failing to begin a new play after a certain time from the end of the last one.
Illegal block in the back: An offensive player pushing a defensive player in the back.
Clipping: Blocking from the back below the waist.
Face mask: Grasping or touching the face mask of another player while attempting to tackle him.
Courtesy of wikipedia, i could have typed it all myself but it just went a lot faster, and I know its just an opinion site, but they are all legit responses to the penalties. A hail mary is basically a toss up to recievers on offense to hope that one of them catches the ball to move down the field, you can score by either a touchdown worth 6 points, point after touchdown (PAT) for 1 point, 2-point conversion after a touchdown, field goal 3 points, by tackling the opposing team in their endzone which results in a safety, giving the defensive team 2 points. those are the only ways you can score in football.. and to get a first down depends on the spot of the ball.. on first down (unless there is a penalty) you have to get the ball 10 yards up the field in 4 or less tries, if you get it in any of those 4 tries it starts over from the spot of the ball to go 10 more yards.. but say they start at the 20 yard line, and on first down they lose 5 yards, then they have 3 tries to get 15 yards for the next first down.. usually on 4th down depending on the spot of the ball, the team will punt (kick to the other team) or go for a field goal for 3 points. unless it is really close like where they only have a yard to go, then they might attempt to get that one yard, if they succeed then it starts over at first down again, if they fail, the other team gets the ball where it is.. as soon as a team brings the ball within 10 yards of the opposing endzone, to where they are about to score, it becomes 1st and goal.. they now only have 4 tries to get it in the endzone becuase they can no longer get any more first downs.
hope this was of some help. sorry it was so long.

hail mary is a last ditch play where you throw a long pass trying to score one last time. a first down is 10 yards you have 4 tries to get it or you turn over the ball to the other team which is why most teams punt on 4th down. not sure what you mean by pointer. 6 points for a touchdown 1 for kicking an extra point after the touchdown or you can try and get the ball into the inzone for 2 points. a field goal is 3 and tackleing the opposing team in the inzone is a saftey worth 2 points. hope that helps

When the quarterback is not doing good, he will pray and say a hail mary so he can do better. Usually, if the quarterback wins the game, he does not need any money to get a first down with the cheerleader.
