I had them in a rental house that I owned. Nasty, dirty, icky little creatures. (O.K., yes, they are cute)
But they are filthy and carry all kinds of diseases. And yes, they will "go" on cabinet tops. They will also "go" in the kitchen drawers, under the stove top, in the oven. ICKY.

Yes, we have mice in our house, and occasionally there is evidence that they were on our countertops during the night. No, they're not nasty. They are actually nice little animals. However, inside the house is not the best place for them. I've had great success with this trap in my house:
http://veganstore.com/index.html?stocknumber=266
I've caught over ten mice with it so far and it can be used over and over indefinitely. Or, you can try making the free homemade humane trap described here:
http://www.helpinganimals.com/wildlife_livingWithMice.asp
If you do live trap mice, please be sure to check the traps several times a day and release the mice promptly, approximately a mile away from your home. It is much more cruel to allow a mouse in a live trap to slowly starve to death than to kill it quickly with a snap trap. Also, if you use the live traps outside, put a little bedding (paper towels or cotton balls) inside the trap so the mice won't freeze to death during the night. When you release the mice, do it in an area with some sheltering bushes or plants. If you are a kind person, you might also leave a little bird seed or oatmeal for them.
The absolute cruelest traps are glue traps. Mice have been known to gnaw off their own limbs and tear off their skin in an effort to escape, as they starve or dehydrate to death or suffocate in the glue. Poison isn't any better, as the mice die slowly and painfully from internal bleeding. It can take up to a week for them to die.
Good luck!

I don't have any right now, but we did have one. They gross me out just because they are these little small animals. yuck. but, they do get into any food you have. counters, cabinets, nothing is safe. we have a big screen tv, the darn little mouse made a home in my tv. i finally got mad and bought decon. we saw it walking along the wall one day and then it stopped. it died. Mice are yucky. They will get unto anything they can. Keeping the kitchen clean and food off the floor helps! Good luck!

You'd certainly know about it if you had a moose loose aboot the hoose! If I had one of those I'd coax it outside with some Maynards Wine Gums. As for the smaller variety you'd know you had one or two from their ickle bitty footprints in the frying pan fat & their itsy bitsy poopies in the grill pan.

they go everywhere.. put the video cam out and see.... the pee and poop all over. if they are bad.. you can smell the pee. just a small rat. nasty. i put the blues(poison) out.. i can deal with it if they smell.. not a problem unless they are bad when i put the blues out.. past couple years not so bad.. had the blues out early...i have no pets so i dont have to worry about secondary poison.. as i said.. i have no pets so lets not hear about the neighbors

When I was at my house one morning, I saw a mouse in my house, when I called some one to come over and kill them, they said that they carry bad diseases that can harm you.
