1) Dubya had an old score to settle.

2) Greed for oil.

3) We are a poorly informed country which responds more to emotion and fear than facts. Many people did, and still do, think Iraq was responsible for the events of 9-11.

4) Many people don't care about facts, period. Many people are deeply suspicious of Muslims and think one middle eastern country is pretty much like another and, to quote some of the people I'm unfortunately related to, "we oughtta bomb 'em all and let God sort 'em out!" (No doubt these same relatives would have also enjoyed participating in lynchings in the South.)

Great questions bcoz I am sensing alot of gullible Americans here. (the ones that hoorayed for Saddam's hanging)

It was for WMD (weapons of mass destruction which never existed)
It was fo alleged Al-queda links which never existed

It was a distraction to get the gullible American people away from George Bush's mistakes, incapacities and personal greed.
