I am an eighteen year old girl and ever since I was about 13 i have grown hair on my face, chin, lower back, above my belly button, and on my chest. I also have really thick eyebrows. I don't understand this but I hate it. I am not masculine in any other way (nor do I want to be masculine in any way). Does anyone know why I am like this or what I might be able to do about it?

It is probably heredity, are you ethnic or Indian or anything like that, maybe your grandparents are? that is usually who have this type of hair and I think it's fine.i wish I had hair like some women I see, even if they have it other places at least they have plenty on their heads lol so, just live with it. You can pluck the eyebrows and shape them once a month or two with good tweezers and a magnifying mirror...beautiful eyebrows then. I have hair on my breasts, a few wild ones, never did a thing with them, God gave them to me so, I keep them. They have a hormone cream now for hair on the face, not sure if it has to be prescribed but you can ask the Dr. next trip there if it wirks, don't shave or anything. Some women have a condition called polycystic ovarian something...causes hair growth on face and chin but not as you describe. I think yours is heredity. So, do what you can and don't worry. you are beautiful and we weren't all meant to be the same. Some men love dark hairy women, they are out there believe me. Good luck.

You are probably getting the idea that women are not hairy from the people you see on tv and in magazines. Trust me, they do a lot of waxing, shaving, plucking to look that way. You can either do the same or you can go "natural" either way some men will be attracted to it. I would ask a doctor if i thought it was too excessive. I dont think women are supposed to have 5'0clock shadows. Do not shave the hair on your face though. Waxing or creams are better since shaving is supposed to train the hair to grow thicker or something like that. I think waxing is better but do whatever you feel comfortable with. I wouldnt worry about it though.

Simply a genetic trait Hun. I rather doubt you need to see any professional other than the ladies at the beauty shop. any number of ethnic heritages could predispose you to a Lil more than normal hair. But the treatments are tried and true and most women tweeze, shave, wax, or pluck some portion of their anatomy. Most over do it by the way, we are all mammals after all, you know....fur bearing, feed our live born young milk. Just goes with the territory. Be well.

I think that you're simply a product of your gene pool. I have a friend who's daughter also has "sideburns", but she doesn't do anything about them. The mother also has quite a bit of facial hair.
If I were you, I'd talk to someone who does electrolysis and see if that would help you. You are not masculine, so don't even go there! Good luck.

Everyone has male and female hormones in them. Girls have more female hormones, as guys have more male ones. Well, usually. You may just have more male hormones than female ones. If that is the case, then all I can tell you is try a hair removal treatment (Epil Stop, etc.) and it should not grow back for a long while. It'll still grow back, if it's in your genes. The treatment will just prolong the hairlessness.

To me it sounds like you may have a higher than normal amount of testosterone(male hormone). All women have a certain level of this hormone, but it is uaually low enough, that the female hormone(s) dominate, preventing facial hair growth. Check with your doctor/gynecologist and see what he/she recommends.

This can be a sign of PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). Excess hair like you described is one symptom of it.

Go see an Endocrinologist about it.

Or, it could be genetics if any of your close relatives are very hairy.

you obviously have a higher testosteron level than most females.
i suggest you visit ur doctor as you may need HRT (hormone replacement treatment)
the extra dose of oestrogen will balance out your hormonal levels
