This is for my boyfriend who just found out he is the father of a chlid. He doesn't want anything to do with the child or the mother. Please don't start judging him or me since you don't know the situation.

You will need a lawyer to draw up this form for you, shouldn't cost much. My ex-husband signed one to relenquish his rights to our daughter. I live in TN, but it only cost about $250 with atty. fees and court costs.

I was reading some of the other responses and one person said that it wouldn't effect child support, that is incorrect. In my case, I had it written in the document that if he signed away all parental rights, then I would forfeit the right to ask for child support. As long as you include that in the paperwork, it is legallly binding. And you would not need anyone to adopt the child to do that, I even took back my maiden name and had my daughter's name legally changed to my maiden name as well.

Termination of parental rights (which is a different thing than custodial rights) has to be approved by a judge. Generally speaking, judges are VERY reluctant to terminate parental rights unless it’s done for the purpose of adoption. They certainly won’t approve it unless Mom agrees to it and she doesn’t need Dad’s financial help in order to raise the child. Even then, the judge can deny it and often does. Even if Mom doesn’t need Dad’s help now, ten years down the road, she may, and if that happens and his parental rights have been terminated, then they can’t seek child support from him and guess who then gets to help support the child—the taxpayers.

You need to talk to a local attorney about it.

i think of that's unusual which you have been contacted by way of facebook. To me, that's a huge purple flag. A foster care corporation, a valid regulation corporation, or an adoption corporation would not touch you thru facebook. you've acquire some criminal variety interior the mail informing you of the action. At suited, this could be a means adoptive relatives leaping the gun. At worst, that's somebody's undesirable attempt at attempting to control you. to respond to your questions: definite, you do could desire to be in touch interior the approach. to be certain that the adoption to wade by way of, the court docket/corporation/corporation has to make a stable faith attempt to locate you and to have you ever consent to relinquishing your rights to the youngster. definite, you do have organic rights to the youngster. If the mummy placed your call down simply by fact the daddy, the state has to tell you. that's the action you will get interior the mail. in case you do no longer answer the interest, the state will anticipate which you are the daddy. The state assumes that if somebody isn't the daddy, they might contest the interest. the certainty which you do no longer, could mean which you're. the two way, in case you do no longer something, the state/corporation/corporation will finally pass to terminate your rights. in case you get something interior the mail, write lower back to the corporation or corporation and tell them which you do no longer think of you are the daddy provided that there is a few lifelike thought that she grow to be with yet another guy in the time of the era that thought could have taken place. they're going to possibly ask for a paternity try. in case you come back lower back simply by fact the daddy, you are able to sign the papers to go forward with the adoption. in case you're actually not, then they're going to attempt the subsequent guy. If finally they are able to't locate the daddy, they're going to easily terminate his rights in absenstia. i would not respond to something on facebook. i might await any criminal word and take the stairs that the interest says you may take up order on your rights to be terminated. Oh and get a criminal expert in case you may get a word so as that your rights are secure interior the approach.

There is little use in doing it, all you have to do is just not go visit the child, or not go see the child,

You can not give up obligations, such as child support or court ordered insurance, you can only give up rights to see or rights to decide things about the child.

The only way to get out of the money obligation is to have someone ( step parent adopt the child) Then actually one person gives up the obligation and someone else takes it over.

Very likely you would need an attorney experienced in family law to either relinquish your rights, or get someone to reliquish their rights. What is the purpose of this, not to ge too personal.

You can get the forms online, but I can't remember the web site that lets you download state specific forms.
Check with your county courthouse or just about any lawyer in your town.

If he is doing this to get out of paying child support, it won't work. He can he'll still have to pay, he just won't have any rights to see the child.
