Yahoo states that they are shutting down the message boards because they are updating for a newer version in the future. I'm not sure why they have to shut down this version to upgrade to a new one, but I'm not sure this makes them cowards...they're only losing users and money by doing this. It's their problem.

They were called discussion boards but there usually wasn't much discussion going on. It was mostly rants, insults and trolls.

You can only fit so many trolls under one bridge before they get out of control. It wasn't censorship. It had degraded in to meaningless garbage.

I think it was a liability issue.
They got sued by some guy who claimed he was slandered.
They just got tired of dealing with the negative aspects of the boards.
