Can look at it 2 different ways. 1) If you think it's OK to bribe or influence which laws are made then not they're harmful. 2) If you think laws shouldn't be made by lawyers and politicians favorable to certain rich clients and contributors then they're harmful.

Depends upon what they are selling and buying. If one is a lobbyist for the "Doing Good Deeds Foundation" then they might not be. But all the rest are. They buy votes by bribing or threatening legislators. They keep life saving products off the market because their employer makes money on the deaths of Americans - think the tobacco lobby. Do you not read the newspapers? Do you not listen in school? You clearly have a school assignment that asks the question and then asks for examples. You won't get the answers here because your essay has to have some depth, some meat in it to score above a C-. But then you will be happy with a D won't you? And your future will be badly done in by the lobbyists working today. Wake up.

It's a matter of opinion, and can't be determined either way. Some do good for people. Some do good for certain people's pocket books. Realistically, even with an amendment, lobbying will not be stopped. Lobbyist will just find other avenues and loopholes to get their messages to elected officials across. Lobbyists are like fireants, put poison on the ant mound over here, and they just move to a different spot in the yard.

Umm. Legalized bribery is harmful to both the legislative process and the elective process Time for a constitutional amendment on this one (so they can't groan about Amendment #1 when the lobbyists are cut off). Good luck getting the pigs away from the trough on this one.

In my opinion they are. They divert attention from meaningful matters of state to rich white men's pockets. They have corrupted our legislative branch.

You say that you "need to know," but there is nothing to "know" about whether or not they are "harmful." Because it is a matter of opinion.
