Totally, celebrating the death of another person doesn't make you better than him.

I'm so through hearing about Saddam's execution, and seeing his name, and all of the vultures on here vying for the website where it was shown, that I think I'll go curl up with a good book for the rest of the evening, Thank You Very Much!

Happy New Year!

His execution does served a purpose that no one is above the law! This gives the world a stern warning that no matter what position one holds the law will always be above them! Saddam's executed ended pains to many who suffered during his regime and consolations to those who morned the dead of their loved ones!

I have it on TIVO and plan to play it all the time, He was A tyrant and the reason our troops are dying, so I feel his death is a sort of retrobution, not that that helps anyone who has lost a loved one in this almost useless war but it should serve as a sign as to what is to come........semper fi!!!!

Yes, I'm sickened. He did horribly evil things, but he could have been thrown in a prison for life to rot, as was the case with some other dictators.

IMHO, one of the functions of the State (i.e. government) shouldn't be killing people.

I wasn't sickened. What he did was pure evil, his death was definately a happy event that brought closure to the families he brutally destroyed.

I wouldn't say it's a happy event, but a relief. Perhaps now the people of Iraq will be able to move forward with fresh hope.

Not sure if it serves any purpose (closure for families of the victims, maybe), but I don't think his death or anyone else's is something to celebrate.

To serve an example to the general public; the same reason they had a crowd at hangings way back then.
