Is the west safer because Hussein is dead? Has the threat of terrorism escalated because of his death? Is the effect neutral?

Well I don't feel safer. Hussein WAS mute. He WAS nothing after they pulled him out of a hole in the ground with lice jumping off of him. Now he IS a martyr. Rudolph Hess was housed at Spandua prison for like 30 years and when he died they leveled the place so that it couldn't become a symbol to the surviving Nazis. They should have put him in a tiny cell and welded the door shut. That would have had a bigger impact on the war than creating another Muslim martyr.

I don't think his life or death had anything to do with terrorism. Although he did kill both shiite and sunni islamist extremist. He viewed islamic fundamentalists as a threat to his leadership. I think their will be reprisals from former baathists. Expect an initial escalation of violence.

I expect to see and hear of much more terrorism until we can finally rid our once-great nation of the mass corruption in the White House.

Gee - Where are those weopons of mass destruction that Bush drilled into our heads, on a daily basis, were being stockpiled in Iraq?

If you listen to those in the eastern hemisphere, the only way to put down radical islam is to hit them in the face, hard. It is the language they understand. I think it will put pause in to those who seek to reach too high.

It means that a tyrannt has been forced to pay for his crimes. Whether it makes things worse (God knoweth how) but one thing is for certain. Saddam will have no part in it.
