My wife is 23 weeks pregnant, and was laying in bed playing with our 9 year old daughter. Our daughter accidently elbowed my wife not real (from what she said) but enough to freak my wife out. Is there reason for concern. I researched it and found minor injuries like this are no cause for concern, but does she need to be SO worried? I am trying to calm her down and get her to realize its OK. Any advice?

if she starts contracting go to labor and delivery otherwise mention it to the doc at her next appt and to just be safe call her doc and he might want her to go in. a pregnant belly has a lot of layers and baby is pretty much well protected. good luck

Im currently 20 wks and have a 4yr old daughter and me and her wrestle around all the time since i am her only playmate and a stay at home mom for the time being. She is used to play punching me so there has been a couple times where she has gotten wrapped up in play that she forgets there's a baby in mommys tummy and accidently hit there and the dog has constintly jumped on me when i walk in the door. She should be fine. me and my baby have been. At 23 wks she should be feeling the baby move so as long as the baby is moving about as normal there is nothing to worry about. Usually when i get really worried im not satisfied until i hear the okay from the doctor, so if she feels its necesary take a trip to the er. Even though it seems minor to u support her decision to take it as a minor one or a trip to er, all we really need is the support ;) Good Luck and im sure all is well.

ETA let us know how it goes

she *should* be ok, but if she has any cramping or any kind of symptoms that she hasnt had before (or if something is more intense) she should definately call the doctor-something could have gotten hurt in there.
Im 36 weeks along & know where she is coming from-
my friends daughter wacked me in the belly at Holy Supper (not on purpose) and I was a nervous wreck.

Babies are tough, especially while in the womb. You're not going to ease her mind until she talks to her doctor. But really, babies are tough, they have survived car wrecks, plane crashes and horrible battery of the mother while in the womb. See if you can get in touch with her doctor over the weekend and phone consult with her/her. Congrats on the baby, and reassure your daughter that all is well, and we all know it was an accident.
