I'm the smallest kid in my class (6th) and i'm also the thinest, Weighing 66 pounds. My mom had told me that if I wanted to grow I would need to eat (i'm about 4 foot 5) So I was very ecstatic when I weighed myself 2 weeks ago and I had gained 3 pounds and was 69. but today I weighed myself and I saw that I had lost weight and spent to remainder of the day pigging out!

HELP ME!!!!!

As a Mom myself I would not usually tell you to go against what your mom says. But eating the wrong foods like junk food or sweets will only catch up with you later with other health problems. You didn't say that's what you eat to gain or grow, but that is a warning from some who fought being over weight most of my life. I have a daughter that had the same problem around your age sweetie, and trust me, she tried a few things and nothing happened that really helped. You have heard it before, I am sure but it is true...you are at an age that a body can suddenly start changing. By the eight grade, my daughter turned into a beauty with a great body that I would have loved to had, and then my worries went from, 'is she eating right or ever gonna grow' to WOW, how do I keep the boys away now? Really, don't focus on your size at this young, wonderful time in your life. Focus on having fun, and looking forward to just being a teenager because it sure don't last long enough! BC

I don't think you're obssessed with your weight, but you may be worrying about it a bit more than you need to.

Make sure you're eating small meals throughout the day, and make them healthy foods like whole grains, protein, fruits, veggies, and dairy products. Also, do a few exercizes to help build up your muscles (muscle weighs more than fat).

Do you go for a doctor check-up once a year or so? Your doctor can check your height and weight and body frame and tell you if you're within normal limits. Without seeing you, I would say you're on the small normal height and weight for your age. Someday you may be happy you're on the thin side.

Don't worry about it for now. Just do all you can to be healthy!

Its normal for your weight to go down a pound or so even when your trying to gain. Just keep on eating a healthy diet and your weight will stabalize after a couple of months. I'm glad your listening to your mom and wanting to weigh healthy but try not to stress over it too much. Good luck.

As long as you're not avoiding food, or throwing up after the "pigging out".... you are probably a normal 6th grader with a fast metabolism.
My daughter is naturally very thin too, no matter what she eats.... maybe you should count it as a blessing?
On the other hand, if your mom has expressed some concerns about your health maybe you should ask her to take you to a doc. so you can really get to the bottom of it.
Good luck TicTac

Ask your mom to serve foods that have a lot of protein. At your age your protein intake should be nearly 100 grams or about3.5 oz per day. The extra protein intake is the reason people are much taller than they were 100 years ago.

Your goal should be to be healthy and that is all. So, eat small healthy meals and snacks often each day. So, if you are tiny, who cares as long as you are healthy. I'm not going to tell you what you should weigh. that is heredity and your body and God's business. But I will tell you to eat well. eat well often and snack well and often. Treat your body like a temple and eat what it needs to function. Fruit, veggies, protien in meat, bean or nut form, healty oils and snacks that are filling like peanut butter and crackers, yogurt with live cultures, cheese, carrots with ranch dressing, a handfull of nuts and raisins. Get to healthy and eat your splurge foods occasionally and you will be fine.

No need to worry!!! You are in about the 40th percentile. When you hit puberty you will gain like 30 pounds and will feel normal!!! Dont worry! Good luck!

I only weighed 65 lbs in the 6th grade. You have plenty of time to grow.

We'll you're going through or about to go through puberty. You should put on a bit of weight from that and store fat on your hips, butt, boobs and sorta fill out and get curvey. It might not happen right away, but you'll see changes.

You don't need help; you're slender, that's all. You may or may not change as you mature; even if not, don't worry, plenty of guys like petite girls. Don't starve yourself or overeat; listen to your body.

There is nothing wrong with you.
