Yes, but that depends on what you consider good. Engineering makes great money relative to other fields; especially when you consider the experience factor. An engineer with no experience will make much more money than a liberal arts major with the same or similar experience.

You can get about $50k-$70k right out of college. That all depends on your degree, and if you have experience through co-op, internships, or previous jobs. A lib. arts major makes around $33k-$55k depending on their degree.

Doctors, and other physicians definitely make more than an engineer would. BUT! You have to consider how many years of education they have to go through, Master's degree, residence, etc. before they're making their money. In the 8 or so years (guesstimate), plus the school loans that it would take to become a doctor, you could be making good money as an engineer.

A BS in Engineering is also a good springboard for Grad school. Go to law school, and you could become a patend attorney. Go to med school, and you can become a biological engineer. Those are just a few examples.

It's not for everyone, but its a good career path.

Your best bet would to be a software engineer in a high growth startup. The engineers working at ebay, paypal, amazon, microsoft, and apple all got incredibly heavy returns (up to 50X their normal yearly wage) just for having a seat at that business, thanks to stock options that paid off upon a successful IPO.

This really isn't unlikely anymore. It's ranked as one of the best compensated, stress free, and fun jobs to have.

Goodluck!

Depends on what kind of engineer you are, and what kind of company you end up working for.
