Leading causes not necessarily in order:

propagation of hatred and bigotry. These demoralize people, cause great harm to relations between peoples and can lead to war or other strife.

adultery - definitely a sociaty killer since it destroys whole families and even lead to the kids of such relationships being pretty screwed up because of the antics of their parents

money - whether a little or a lot money definitely corrupts. people fight over it, always want more of it (greed) lust over what others have that they don't and all that. So again, if money and the non-essential, material possessions were all removed, might we not all be better able to accept others for who they are rather than be jealous of what they ahve.

drugs and alcohol - now here are a couple things that when improperly used cause great hardships for families and society in general. Addicts stealing money and selling off stuff of their own family members just to support an addiction,. The extreme cost of law enforcement and prisons to deal with all the drug crimes and even the destruction of families by an addiction. Again look at the results on the kids in a family with an addict.

Now look at normal everyday gay people who want to partner, marry and enjoy a full life. Sure if they get into some of the above mentioned vices, they can introduce corruption to society but by simply living normal lives with normal homes and jobs, driving normal autos and even being in love wiht each other, the only thing they can corrupt is the minds of closed-minded folks who like to hate for it's own sake out of lack of knowledge and understanding rather than tackling the true reasons that society has become so morally bankrupt.

homosexuality is scorned by a lot of religious doctrines.
that being the case, in the USA, people have a right to practice or not to practice any religion of their choice, so long as they do not break any laws or impede others rights to basic human rights.
Homosexuals are not bothering you or me by existing. Until I see them or hear them, in the acts of doing homosexual acts, how am I or any one to know that they are gay?!? For that matter, how are you or anyone else to know that I am straight, unless I go out into the streets and perform straight acts?!?! These people are not doing anything to society by being gay. These people hold jobs and pay taxes and that's all that society says that they must do.
Now your church may place other restrictions on behavior, but that's your church, not your country. your church doesn't pass laws, or uphold them for that matter, but your government does. Science doesn't dictate right or wrong by the way. true science is not judgmental, it just looks for the facts and tries to explain why things occur. As for morality, again, the issue is church morality vs societal morality. In certain parts of society, homosexuality is not tolerated, but in other parts, homosexuality is welcomed.
the question is why is not OK to be gay? how does a person who is gay harm you...or me.....or anyone else for that matter? I'm not gay, I have no desire to be gay. I see gay people and I've not been infected with the gay disease yet. I'm just as repulsed by the sight of a naked man (my self included) as i was since I can remember. I still find the female form(draped or unwrapped) enthralling. Women are god's gift to the planet. I have not been corrupted by gays in society. Maybe I'm just stronger than you. Maybe if you had a transfusion, you could pass the homosexuality out of your system.

how can people like Britney Spears divorces some guy after 52 hours, then have 2 kids and text message K-Fed to divorce him and that does nothing to the institution of marriage, but 2 homosexuals will ruin life for all of us?!? Society has way more issues than homosexuals. Homosexuals aren't the cause of the ills of our great country. They are nothing more than a scapegoat for those who don't want to face the real issues.
also keep this in mind, the Islamic faith will have more numbers in this country, the USA in a few years, probably within your life time. Be careful when you try to have religious based law. you may get some laws that you didn't count on. I have nothing against you or your faith, just the path down which you are treading. you may open a door that you will not close and more may pass through than you are anticipating.

It's not gays that are corrupting society it mankind that is corrupting society, in my opinion most people that are gay are born that way (due to chemicals that mimic hormones, in the water, food etc. If these chemicals can cause fish and frogs to have both sex organs imagine what they could do to a developing human being. and you have environment, culture, social upbringing etc.). Just because some one has a different life style doesn't mean that you hate on them. And besides, sexual orientation is not so cut and dry anyway. If it wasn't for the strict "labels" society puts on people, most of us would fall some where in the middle. I rather have a person who is gay be out about it rather then pretend that he/she is straight get married and have kids and then later get a divorce because they can't live a lie anymore. And that is more hurtful to society...

it is okay to be gay because this is the way we were born. but people were not born to be bigots, they were taught. what do you think about bigots corrupting our society? well just think about it. if there were none then what would our society be like with out hate crimes and racial and gay bashing? people are not born drug dealers and abusers or alcoholics and look what they are doing to our society. being gay is not a choice. i wish there was someway for people to understand this. when you were growing up was there ever a time when you were faced with the decision to be either straight or gay? did any one come to you and say this is the time for you to make a decision. neither one of these things ever happened to me either. i was never asked what i wanted. but if i had the choice i would pick being gay because it has made me a better person. i am more open minded and compassionate towards others. being born gay is no different than being born straight or white or black or asian or with three fingers on one hand. this is the way God made us and we cannot change it anymore than you can change your race. just because Michael Jackson thinks he has fooled people doesn't mean that he is white. he is still just as african american as he was the day he was born.

First of all it is not all religions that promote hatred of gay people. There are many religions which not only tolerate it,but actually embrace it as a natural occurance.

The Dalai Lama is well known for his activism for human rights, and this specifically includes equal rights for gays. According to an Office of Tibet spokeman, "His Holiness opposes violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation. He urges respect, tolerance, compassion, and the full recognition of human rights for all."

Hindus believe the following:

Nowhere in the Hindu sacred texts is romantic love excluded to all but a man and woman, so there are no religious grounds to make a statement to the contrary.
Since homosexuals can experience romantic love, homosexual sexual relationships are not all the product of lust.
The three functions of marriage are given in the Dharma Shastras, books that are not binding to Hindus, and thus Prajaa is not a determining factor in Hindu marriages. Even if the three functions of marriage were binding in terms of marriages, Prajaa may be interpreted in a number of ways that do not involve procreation at all. Thus homosexuals should be allowed to marry.

Please don't say that all religions and morals prohibit gay people. It IS ok to be gay. It IS NOT ok to hate. The ones corrupting our society are Presidents who lead invasions and occupations of foreign countries that kill thousands of innocent people for no legitimate reason corrupt society. So do congressmen who pass tax cuts for the wealthy while continuing to place the greatest burden on the middle class. As does displaying an almost zealous support of killing people, whether in the form of the death penalty at home or bombing people abroad. It is the promotion of militarism and a lack of compassion that corrupts society, not homosexuality.\

In my view religion is a cultural virus that, like a computer virus, once downloaded into the software of society corrupts many of the programs it encounters. It isn’t hard to find examples to fit this view; one has only to read the dailies coming out of the Middle East to see its nefarious effects or just take a look at the postings on this site to see how it is RELIGION that corrupts society.

Educate yourself. Stop showing hatred disguised as Christian compassion. Read the bible and ask God for guidance so you might find the truth. Don't twist the bible to your own views and for your own ends. Understanding never corrupts, Love never corrupts. It is hate that does. Look at your question and tell me what it shows: love or hate? Then tell me what corrupts.

if you believe in God, then realize tha God created gay and bi people, therefore, he loves them and wants them here..

morals are simply based on perception. some say it's wrong not to be straight.

let's also apply the concept of sexual promiscuity.. some say sex outside of marriage is wrong.. others think it's ok.. not really a right or wrong answer

some people say fake breasts are immoral, others say it's ok.

bottom line, your opinion is just one out of 6 billion opinions in the world. your perception of corruption may not be corrpution to others..

if you are straight, then you don't have anything to worry about.. gays won't be interested in you..
