You can use this website to convert your english measurement (inches) to metric (mm).

56mm = 2.205 in which is a little less than 2 and 1/4 inches.
It doesn't convert exactly to 16ths, on your ruler it will be real close to 2 and 4/16ths (just slightly under). For most things you are measuring 2 and 1/4 would probably be close enough.
It is actually between 2 and 3/16ths and 2 and 4/16ths, but closer to 4/16ths.
If you have 32nds on your ruler it would be 2 and between 7 and 8 /32nds.
If you had 64ths on your ruler it would be real close to 2 and 13/64ths

Find out how many whole inches there are in 56 mm and then work with the remainder.
There's 25.4 mm/in.

Divide mm by 254. That gives you an answer in inches. now divide by 16. Is that what you want? HTH LOL

= approx 2inches + 3and one quarter 16ths.

therefore the length to rule is 56mm
1inch=2.545cm
1cm=10mm
5.6cm=56mm
56mm=2.2inches
