I have to say yes it was too gentle and too quick.

Considering all that he did to so many it was too quick. There are so many that will suffer the rest of their lives for what he did. And those that remember what he did to his own people. As well as all those who lost their lives at his hands. Not just Iraqi's, Iran citizens during the long war they had, Kuwaiti people, the list is endless.

My husband is a disabled veteran from the first gulf war, he has a nueromuscular disease that limits his lung function. He wasn't expected to live through 1999. He isn't eligible for a lung transplant because the nerves that control your lungs are damaged as well. He was there with all the burning of oil, etc. I have to say I'm glad Saddam is gone. But really in so many ways it doesn't make my husband any less sick. It doesn't change that we live knowing the rest of his lungs could shut down. Even the Mayo clinic isn't able to do anything for my husband. Saddam's death can't change that.

Personally I do not believe his is finding himself surrounded by virgins and Allah, I believe he has just now begun to pay for his crimes and will do so for eternity and that is the only comfort I take in his death.

He deserved what he got but he was silenced by the power structure to prevent him from singing like a bird. He was a toothless dictator that the US supported in the 80's who had out lived his usefulness and he wasn't worth 3000 American dead soldiers.

He was prosecuted for killing 100-something people because it is wrong to take the life of someone away, and yet, he was killed in a similar fashion. What kind of a message does that send to everyone, Iraqis, Americans, the whole world?
A bad one.
Do not blame Saddam for your friends/family getting hurt in either the gulf war or the current war in Iraq. How is it his fault that America is just too damn nosy and tries to get involved in other people's business? It's Bush's fault that all this is happening, not Saddam's.

I'm a little upset that it had to come down to killing someone because that is something that should never be done but I'm also relieved and happy for all of the families that suffered from his reign.

It is done. The Iraqis did as they saw fit to punish a convicted, horrible man who is responsible for many attrocious acts.
