how do i setup my voicemail ona Verizon phone?

I dialed my voicemail #, but that didn't work. i hav an LG X3800 V-Cast music phone

I have a Verizon phone, you press and hold the 1 until it says calling voice mail then the voice will tell you to enter a code if you didn't set up a code at the store it is usually the last 4 digits of your phone number then you just follow the directions; if the 4 digits of the phone number don't work then you can call the place you got it from and they should tell you the code.
