I've been on the depo for a yr now and ive gained 25 pds but im very happy w/ its effectivness. The thing is it doesnt matter how much i exercise, cut calories or just plain starve myself, i CANNOT lose weight. Does ANYONE have a solution? (besides abstinance or getting fixed, i have to be 25 according 2 nebraska law 2 do that) And also what is the difference between a mini pill, kariva pill, 28 day pill, continuous cycle pill, blah blah blah, i dont understand

see this site: http://www.fwhc.org/birth-control/index.htm it will help you understand the different methods you can use. most hormonal methods have side effects of gaining weight, i sure did! i'm on the pill for almost 3 years.

>mini pill - progesterone only pills (contains no estrogen)
>28 day pill - contains 21 pills with hormones and 7 pills that have no hormones (also called spacer pills, sugar pills or placebo or even reminder pills) which are taken to remind you when to start the next pack
>continuous cycle pill - lets you have atleast 4 periods a year like seasonale or continuous use of monophasic pills without the 7 day break or not taking the reminder pills

I like the orthoevra patch. You wear one patch for a week for a three week span, then you take off the patch to have your cycle...then you start over the next month. I have had no side effects.
