Does anyone else have this problem? From what I've read about sleeping you aren't supposed to change your baby's diaper in the middle of the night unless they're wet. But by morning she is sometimes soaked. She is still too small for over night diapers. (she's 17/18lbs)

At five months old I don't think cutting down fluid intake is a possible solution...she still wakes up to eat at three am sucks down a bottle and goes back to sleep.

My daughter had this happen too. I ended up getting her diapers two sizes bigger. She wears a 2-3 so get her a 5-6 Use those strickly as night time diapers. It will help!

My best friend had the same problem and tried all different types of diapers but ultimately the doctor told her it was better for the babies skin to change the diaper at night, helps keep diaper rash at bay. You just have to learn to do it carefully and try not to wake her. If you are sleeping 8 hours, do it as close to the middle of that as possible. If she wakes to feed during that time, thats the best, change her and then feed her. Try to get atleast 4 hours of sleep before you change her, you will feel less tired that way.
Good Luck!

I would change her during the night once if she wakes up. If she doesn't, you could try folding a single cloth diaper inside of the diaper to give some extra absorbancy. When she fits in them though, the Huggies Overnite diapers work really well.

There is a company that makes a product called "diaper Doublers". Both of my sons peed straight out the sides of their diapers for awhile and with the first one my mom knew about them and we found them at our Food Lion. (not sure where you live so i don't know if you have this grocery store near you). Thats about the only place I have ever seen them. They are basically like a giant Maxi pad (kinda like the post partum ones) and they are wonderful. Good Luck.

The best rule of thumb that I have found is to change them after they have been fed in the middle of the night. Since she is only 5 months old, you can't expect her to go the entire night and not be changed. That will eventually cause a bad rash. You said that she wakes up for a feeding at 3AM. I am sure that she's wet then. After you feed her, asleep or not, change her. Simple as that.

I had this problem with my son. We just went up a size in diapers and it solved it most of the time. When it didn't we just rationed his fluid intake about 2-3 hours before bedtime.

Maybe a bigger diaper, I have a daughter as well. But she doesn't pee till she wakes up in the morning...but I know what you mean about being soaked in the morning, my daughter pees twice when she wakes up, and that is within a minute, than we change her. Bigger size usually works. LOL.

DON'T ration fluids. Use a bigger diaper and add an extra pad to make it more snug. Also sprinkle corn starch in everything to absorb fluid and prevent irritation. Corn starch is natural and has no talc like baby powder, which can irritiate baby's lungs.

I always changed my sons diapers right befor I went to bed and everytime I got up to go to the bathroom I checked their diapers and changed them if they where wet . They rarely woke up and rarely had a rash. I used cloth diapers and always double diapered too.

I have a son and used to have this problem. Now I use Pampers baby dry at night and he wakes up dry, but with a very heavy diaper...LOL!
