Now that saddam is gone , but 3000 deaths (more than 9/11) in Iraq in about 3 years.

Was it worth stopping a dictator for 3000 lives? Bush has a lot of blood on his hands.

I do not support the conflict in Iraq and though the reality that Saddam is dead is agreeable to me, I do not think that the death of 3000 American soldiers was worth it. This war has been wrong since day one of the conflict and as long as we remain in Iraq I am unfortunately confident that 3000 American deaths is sadly just the beginning. There will never be victory in Iraq in any conventional sense of the word and there is not a person in this universe that can tell me that the current Iraq government is any where near a democracy. The truth is this: As long as we stay in Iraq, there will never be peace; however, once we leave there will also never be peace! This quite a conundrum that Bush is solely responsible for putting America in. I do not think that Bush is a war criminal. I do believe he should be held to account for the blunders and utter abhorrent management of this war. These charges alone call for impeachment. I have a best friend and two very close 1st cousins fighting in Iraq. They write that the situation is hopeless, yet they remain vigilant in the hope that they will see there friends and family again. Our extremely brave men and women (who sadly are being abused by the Bush administration) deserve a clear objective, clear outcomes, and a concrete exit strategy. All of the talk about increasing troop size is despicable! Our military is not some toy soldier set to coldly increase and decrease at will. Thirty-thousand more troops means 30,000 more targets! We must leave Iraq now.

3000 is just a start to the death toll. What about the thousands of civilian Iraqi men, women and children that have died. What about the cities destroyed and people rendered homeless. Think about the American soldiers that are maimed and injured for life. Think about how this has affected world opinon about America. Bush has a hell of a lot of blood on his hands and he sought it with a vengence. This war was wanted by him long before the horrible tragedy of 9/11.

I don't see anything gained for anybody in Iraq or anywhere at all. How many barrels of oil is a soldier worth? Bush lied, thousands died. Now the trespassing Americans will never leave. There will always be an excuse to stay.

I agree with Michael. I pray for our troops, they are awesome. But this war was based on lies. Yes, Hussein was a cruel dictator, but there are lots of cruel dictators in the world. Are we going to police the world? Why don't we invade Sudan, for example....because that wouldn't benefit us. And we shouldn't have invaded Iraq. Saddam did not fly planes into the WTC, Osama is responsible for that. We should have spent the time and energy on getting him in the beginning!!!

I don't believe it was worth it. Bush should have concentrated on getting Bin Laden and destruction of al queda, instead of satisfying his blood thirsty desire to get back at Saddam Hussien.

Bush is a lunatic and a tyrant. I'm a combat veteran, and i despise bush for the death and destruction he is ultimately responsible for.

So many american lives lost and for what?

We have gone twice as long as we did in WWII and lost a lot less soldiers. Was it worth 418,500 Military and Civilian deaths and the dropping of two nuclear bombs on civilian targets in Japan to stop three dictators (Hitler, Mussolini and Hirohito)?

Is freedom for ourselves and others worth it? We will see when the historians write the history books years from now.

It's worth stopping the largest threat to Western Society since Communism, which is basically what we're fighting in Iraq right now.
