A twinge. Yes. He was a human being. I guess that's why we don't do hangings anymore here in the good ol' US of A. But think of all the torture he put so many people through. I think his execution should have been more pain staking, but then again, it's "inhumane". I'm glad it did happen though. His scumbag self deserved it and I'm glad the decision to challenge it was turned down. Hopefully this brings some new light to things over there.

Yes. Although Saddam was a horrible man, he shouldn't have been killed. His trial was extremely unfair, with his political enemies and puppets of the US acting as the judge and jury. I strongly believe in the quote "an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind." Rather than seeking revenge, the US should show Saddam that the US does not do things his way by sparing his life and treating him fairly. If we execute Saddam, he will go down as a martyr in the eyes of some Iraqis, creating additional anti-Americanism and aiding with terrorist recruiting. If we show Saddam the error in his ways in a civilized manner, it would improve the negative image of the US in the Arab world.

I cannot think of any good reason for Saddam to be kept alive, he did terrible, cruel things. And yes, he was a person too, just like the people he ordered killed. I guess what upsets me most is that the death penalty causes some people to sink to a killers level, to find pleasure or happiness in the death of another human being.

He was a human being, but he was a human being who murdered a lot of other human beings.
Having said that, I do get your point. I wouldn't say I'm sad, but I don't think it's a happy occasion.
What I find sad is the amount of people on Yahoo! answers asking if there's a website where they can see his execution.
By the way, here's a quote from Schindler's List - "real power is when you have every justification to kill someone but you don't" (or something like that).

Not really: from what I understand he was a mass murderer so if that is true I don't think we should feel too sad. I think I feel way more sadness that in our efforts to remove him from government, probably 100,000 or so others have died and been severely wounded (Americans and Iraqis). I think many of the Iraqis that have died have been women, children, and civilians, not necessarily terrorists btw, although I do know terrorists have gone there now and they are having a civil war now too.

Strangely yes, mostly due to the fact that justice has not been served to all the people that suffered under Saddam in conjunction with the likely impact that his death will have on terrorism and the insurgency.

Saddam was a monster. He went out of his way to kill a lot of innocent people for what? Power. Maybe he was human at one point in time but now he isn't anything that you should feel sad over. If you must feel sad or morn someone make it the heros who died trying to bring down the monster.

I have a lot of sadness for him. Sadness that they gave him a quick and easy way out by hanging him instead of putting him a in chamber of his own mixture of chemical weapons so that he would know not only what he has put our soldiers through, but what he put his own people through. Human beings have feelings and concerns of other peoples well being, he had none, living and breathing does not qualify one as a human being. It qualifies them as alive. Now he is neither!

No sadness what so ever, he did not act like a human being, and received a more humane end to his life than he afforded his countless victims! I am quite happy that he has been sent to a higher power for his final judgment.
