I would hope that they supervise the set-up of the account... setting the proper privacy limits... and then monitor their use of the computer. No child should have a computer in his/her room with internet access. There are predators out there just waiting for junior to be alone in his room with his computer. Parents should also monitor the pictures and videos that are posted on the account. With boundaries, MySpace or another type of community space can be a way to keep in touch with friends. Warn your child that what they post on the internet is there for ANYONE to read... forever and ever amen. If you are a parent, make sure you have the password to their MySpace or other account... check it check it check it.... I have a friend who check's her daughter's account every day. And she will delete offensive material if needed. Tell your kids, if you don't want the world to know your business, keep your community page generic!!

Some parents don't know what myspace really is. And some parents don't even know how to use the computer, like my parents. But my parents know that i don't go and chat with some strangers off the internet and that i want to go meet.

They don't kids just say "Oh I'm gonna get on the computer and go to a fun site" and they just chat with random people they don't know(but they do know some people)who actually aren't who they say they are and it's definitely not a good site for kids anyway. My mom would die before she let me get on Myspace.

Well my parents let me because I was smart enough.
I don't have my address, phone number, my full name, or anything else that would let people find me. I don't even have the real town I live in.
And my profile is "private." Only people who I let see it can see it. It's always been like that.

Alot of parents don't know what their kids have on it. But my parents let me because they already knew I know how to be safe. And I let them see my profile any time they wanted so they could make sure it was okay. I had one since I was about 15, and never had a problem. My parents have always known they didn't need to moniter my online workings because they talked to me about the dangers out there alot. (But they still did make sure they knew what I was doing online. I never cared because I never did something on there that I didn't want them to see.)

OMG, everybody just need to chilll out. The people that get abducted or raped or somthing from myspace are just stupid and they aren't safe with thier sites. The reason is parents want thier kids to be able to talk with thier friends outside of school.

and what does that have to do with movies?

Dude myspace isnt bad unless your kid is bad. If you kid has no sense and talks to 30 year old men who think they are hot or adds people they dont know, then they have no buisness on the site. As long as it can be monitored than I think its fine.
