Thus allowing air from the outside in/air from the inside out?

We live in the Midwest US so it's cold outside

drafts......

light candles.......

close door to room....

see where way flames move (or if).
air move flame away by blowing and draws flame towards by pulling... set in different parts of room...
to get a good sample..
windows--and outside doors are the culpit....

storm windows and storm doors-- a big plus..

attic insulation blown is a must..........
also under floor (crawl space) insulation .

Well, when it's windy out do you feel drafts? Do curtains move when the furnace is NOT running? If so, then you might have issues. If you are questioning it at all, I would guess that you do have leaks. Evey house does to some extent, it's a matter of what/how much are you willing to allow.

Light a candle and walk around the inside. Watch for a flicker, you are close to the leak. Windows are always susceptible to leaks; as are attic induced leakers. Check doorways to the garage, vents to the outside, particularly clothes dryer vents,TV cables entries, and chimney if you have one.

to insulate a house from air is a big job ,
double windows airlocks double doors etc.

if you havent done that you house definate ly will leak
