It's 7UP's fault. When you pop the can, a microchip sends a subliminal message saying "Shop Target"

7-up is made with sugar as the sweetener. The new version of 7-up claims to contain all natural ingredients. Most of the nation’s major food producers are hard at work developing organic versions of their best-selling products, like Kellogg’s Rice Krispies and Kraft’s macaroni and cheese. Wal-Mart wants to sell more organic food — and because of its size and power, Wal-Mart usually gets what it wants. Also, 7UP has been losing its sales volume. The executives stress a need to differentiate 7UP from Sprite and Sierra Mist and frequently use term "change the game." It stopped being unique, different, disruptive. In the eyes of the consumer, its become average and in the consumer world average is a fate worse than death. Consumers believe all lemon-limes are the same. The lack of brand differentiation is why they have to "change the game."

7up has been dieing lately... the pepsi corporation owns sierra myst and Sprite is owned by the cocacola corporation. Both simply drove 7up out of licensing deals.
