Why is Bush the second best Pres.?

Bush is the second best pres because he did what needed to be done and took Saddam Hussein out of power.

Bush was in office on 9 11 but that day was the result of clinton not bush if clinton had a pair and did what was necessary 9 11 would have never happened

History will decide what Bush did for, or to, our Country. Maybe he's a helpless puppet on the world stage and what is happening now has been written in the sands for a long time. I just wish I could fast-forward another 50 years to see what fruits, if any, Bush has harvested.

The conclusion or estimate of President Bush will not be adjudicated until term is completed. But he will eventually be recognized as at least a commendable President.

I agree that President Reagan is has been the best President in the last 100 years (FDR is close). I was fortunate to have worked in Washington, DC during President Reagan's 2nd term and did some minor work for him.

I think Bush, the son, is one of the worst ever presidents.
History will show this as well as the present.

Reagan was not the best president, but FAR better than either Bush, WAY better than the younger Bush.

I would agree with you on Regan. As for Bush, I don't think you would get anyone to follow you on that. He is not a great president. I do not think we had much of a choice when it came to the elections...but I don't see how you could feel he is a good pres...

don't even put Bush anywhere near Reagan. Bush may very well be the worst President ever, not the second best. But yes, Reagan was great!

I think you'll find that history disagrees with you... and I've never seen anyone with a deep understanding of US history ever claim Reagan as first.

You forget Lincoln, Jefferson, Washington, FDR...

As for Bush - I suspect that once history assesses his presidency - Bush will be found to be one of, if not the worst president of the US.

Bush has made a lot of strong courageous decisions in his time as president. He has removed one dictator from the world and has made it a safer place by leading the War on Terror. You can't get much better than that.

He was the first President to directly deal with the long-ignored issues of: Islamic militant terrorism and their state sponsors, collapsing social security, an oppressive tax system, foreign oil dependency, ICBM (long range nuclear missiles) threats, and a corrupt, impotent UN.

Reagan was the first to directly confront the USSR and bring her and her threat to American interests down. He also greatly simplified the tax code, and built a very strong and stable economy with it.

BTW, anyone who ranks Lincoln at the top of the list of best presidents does indeed err seriously. Look beyond the Gettysburg address, and guess what happened on his watch? Far worse than 9/11/01 (which wasn't Bush's fault), Lincoln's watch saw a civil war which cost the lives of 970,000 Americans (620,000 soldiers, most of whom were Lincoln's men) and left scars of razed and pillaged cities by the north, and a deeply bitter rift between the states which still exists to some degree today. Sure emancipation brings him some redemption, but the rift was so catastrophic and the losses were so staggering that no person give a pass without serious and solid justifications at all levels.
