since you already have the number with the variable which is x, you divide each side by -2.and also reverse the inequality sign which is < to > to solve for x.You reverse the sign because you are dividing the sides with a negative number.
-2x<14
-2x/-2>14/-2
x>7/-1 or x>-7

Solution Set={x:x>-7} which means x searched that x is greater than -7
