The regulations of Shabbat forbid writing, typing on a keyboard and examining - something that brings some actual exchange. The regulations of Shabbat forbid Jews to CREATE something - that includes answering questions approximately Yahoo! The seventh day, Saturday - is the Jewish sabbath. under the regulations of Shabbat Jews can't even turn their laptop on....(or off)... If your a Hasidic or Conservative Jew or if you keep kosher, I think there are laws against using those items before sundown on a Saturday. Other than that, go on with your bad self.

if the pilot light is not on.. lol. some people think you shouldn't touch the stove at all because it is muktzah, though others leave the oven on the whole time from Friday. they even have special ovens now that just stay warm the whole time. if you are looking for a good book on all the rules i like this one http://www.judaicapress.com/product_info.php?products_id=350. thanks for reminding me i should not be on this computer D'oh! shabbat shalom to you too :)

probably not because the sun spots could amplify the infrared radiation emitted by the burners melting your utensils
