They are very classy and cute...plus if you're into fashion, you may know that pointe shoes are very trendy this coming year. I dont know if they are comfortable or not (i know dancers complain alot and get blisters, calluses, etc...fun fun!) My sister does point and I know they are very stiff. An alternative would be the ballet flat version found at Nordstroms or somewhere else.

1. Contact a nearby ballet company and speak with one of the ballerinas. I suspect that they will not be comfortable enough to wear very long.
2. Bring along an extra pair of comfortable shoes. You don't want to have to go barefoot as the only alternative to the slippers. Same advice if you start the evening in some very tall heels.

If your looking to going to go to prom with pointe shoes on then you might want to reconsider. If you buy them they are going to cost a lot more than a regular pair of shoes. So yes they are costly. Well considering we dance on our toes they have to have support. If you're wondering these shoes you are looking at wearing for hours are made out of wood and wouldn't be comfortable for a non-dancer unless you litterally hammered them. You might want to wear ballet flats instead. (the softer ones) I know they have tons of cute styles out in many stores and are quite comfy!

NO!!!!!!!! they are DEFINITLY not comfy (trust me...i DO dance en pointe). you can hurt your feet forever if you went up on your toes. they are at LEAST $50, and you would have to get toe pads or something for the end of the shoe b/c your toes will rub the ends. you prob wouldnt have time to break them enough to even walk in the without looking like a duck. you should just get ballet flats or slippers (much more comfy)

You could buy them, they will be pricey for just one night, and they will not be comfortable and you will not be able to walk on your toes in them since you are not a trained dancer and you may end up hurting your feet or twisting an ankle. My advice is don't do it, you'll end up taking them off by the first dance, trust me!

Instead I would buy regular leather ballet slippers and sew the satin ribbons on if that is the look you want. You can also find satin ballet slippers at some stores since these are very popular with brides. You can order these online also:

They are not comfortable and they are not pretty unless you are dancing around on the toes. Also, if you have no ballet training then do not go up on the toes. Ballet teachers are VERY cautious when they first put their students en pointe and only let them dance for a few minutes each class and gradually build up endurance and strength.

they are extremely uncomfortable to wear wheither you're dancing in them or just standing in them!!! i've actually seen some ballet flat shoes that are made to look like pointe shoes at the tip. they are really cute so i would look around for them. i'm sure they would be so much more comfortable because their well real walking shoes! they also have different colors to choose from, so you could get some to match your dress. =)

if you don't take ballet, dont buy them. wear normal leather or cloth ballet shoes. theyre more comfy, and kind of better looking (and way cheaper!) than pointe shoes cuz pointe shoes are flat at the toe cuz of the wood.

My friend is die-hard ballet dancer and I've actually worn her shoes. They aren't too bad as long as you don't try to stand on your toes, it kills, and you could brake your ankle. I would think you could buy them even if your not a dancer.

Na, I think they'd be ok- you can choose not to walk on your toes (although you might walk funny). Zappos.com sells ballet shoes- they have free shipping so If you get them and don't like how you walk in them you can return them for free. I think ballet shoes are kinda a cool idea.
