I've heard that it's supposed to be easier. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case for me. My OB prescribed Clomid to help me ovulate and I got pregnant the first month on it. I miscarried at 8 weeks and had to have a D&C. My OB told me I would have to wait one month before ttc again. It took me 9 months to conceive again, and that was with taking Clomid and given HCG injections, but I had a full-term healthy baby girl.

The good news is that you know you can get pregnant. If you didn't need the help of any fertility meds to conceive, then chances are you will most likely conceive more quickly than I did. I would question your OB as to any possible reasons for your miscarriage. My OB suspected I had a luteal phase defect and prescribed Prometrium (progesterone). I took 100 mg. per day from day 16 of my cycle until the end, or until the end of my first tri-mester if I became pregnant. The month before I conceived my daughter, my OB did a laparoscopy to check my reproductive organs to find out why I wasn't conceiving. He also did a biopsy of my uterus and found it wasn't thick enough to sustain a pregnancy. The following month, when I conceived, he had increased my dosage of Prometrium to 200 mg. per day. I know of other women who had miscarriages that were prescribed progesterone to help prevent future miscarriages.

I'm sorry for your loss, I know how it feels - especially having to go through it during the holidays. I had my D&C in mid-December also. I found out I miscarried on my Mom's birthday and had my D&C the day after my birthday. I wish you all the best.

It is recommended that you wait about 3 months to let your hormones get back to normal. My sister waited the 3 months and got pregnant quickly.
