There are many theories that include the possibility for faster than light travel and many of them are "mathmatecally valid".
Our experimental evidence continues to support the general and special theories of relativity which say that normal matter cannot travel faster than the speed of light relative to anything.

It may indeed be impossible for anything to travel faster than light. What we need to do is transcend the laws of physics. As of now, we don't have a workable theory to do this. And even if we did, the economics would be daunting.
We don't necessarily have to travel "faster than light." We need to figure out a way to cover vast distances by some other means than conventional physics.
Back to Star Trek and science fiction: when they talk about "warp drive," it doesn't mean a ship is traveling "faster than light." It means that the ship is creating around itself an area of space that follows other (as yet undiscovered) physical laws. Therefore, something like the Enterprise can "travel" the EQUIVALENT of hundreds of times the speed of light.

well in general sense no noone can travel fast than light.
but in strong field where every thing is acclerated with very high velocity one at outside the field may calculate the speed of projectile moving with velocity more than that of light but if the person enters the field and calculates the velocity it will always be less than that of light.
yes einstein's theory exempts faster than light travel. no the theory is mathematically wrong if the calculation is within field and is correct if is based on outside the field.

you can not move through space at the speed of light or faster, however you can travel a distance faster than light would thru a mechanism called the einstein-rosen bridge, commonly known as a wormhole

If imaginary numbers are plugged into the Special Relativity equation then ONLY speeds FASTER than light are possible. The technology, of course, does not exist yet.

Man itself cannot travel at the speed of light...we're too heavy. We would have to convert our mass into energy.
