My two cents, since you asked. All the world's a stage and the powers that be just trotted out the sacrificial goat. I don't think Hussein is any worse that Pinochet was, but Pinochet got to die of natural causes at 91. There is not much justice in the world, but I do not begrudge the Iraqis their opportunity to serve justice. Power corrupts and Hussein had total power over millions of people. He ruled like a bad tempered medieval king, a despot. It's not often the serfs get to give their king a come-uppance. But it all makes me sick. This is just one death. Every day people are blown to bits in Iraq. Now I imagine it will escalate even more. We live in a world of amazing technology side by side with amazing ignorance. I would first blame religion, but in my gut I realize that if it wasn't religion, some other excuse for the carnage would do just the same. In any event, good riddance to Hussein.

1stly, Saddam was more like Stalin than Hitler ... But that is NOT under any circumstances an excuse or a statement for the better. He was a murdering genocide loving bastard who used governmental stability and ethnic motivation as excuses for his homocidal tendencies. If you have never heard of the Iraqi Mind **** that existed in the days just before the 1st Gulf War read Robert Wiener's "Live from Bagdad." If he were a normal citizen he would have been killed without a trial long ago. I pity the Iraqi citizens for the unhevels this trial and execution are predicted to instigate. Saddam isn't worth the energy and historical signifigance.

I didn't know they were doing that today.
I think that he did a lot of horrible things, but they should have just let him rot in prison.
Supposedly, death is wrong, so why do they think they have a right to do it. If it is against the law, it is against the law, and I am pretty sure murder is against the law.
There is no such thing as justifiable murder.
Just cause he did it doesn't mean anyone else should.
It's that whole "If he jumped off a bridge....." thing.
I don't mean to sound like I'm two, but two wrongs don't make a
right.

Like any mass murderer it won't bring his victims back to life, but it is too little, too late, the only purpose for keeping him alive would have been to learn the full extent of cooperation he had from the UN and countries like Russia and France that were determined to prevent any UN sanctions from working all the while they were helping Saddam through supplying weapons and intelligence. the important thing is to let any other tyrants know what will happen to them if they go that route, it just may prevent such a character in Iran from doing something collosally stupid. No joy because of it, but maybe the sunnis will quit hoping they can return him to power by violence against our troops.

Wish the USA was as efficient at carrying out death sentences as the Iraq government is. Here the condemned mooch off of the tax payers for 10+ years while their case is reviewed. Then the courts worry that the needle injection might hurt. Well, hanging hurts a lot more.
Happy New Year, Iraq!!!

Sometime in the next few hours the video of it should be all over the net. Of course, if it is like everything ELSE I look for I probably wont see it until someone sends me the link...or posts it here in a questions or answer.

Considering the policies of Bush I killed about 300,000 Iraqis and the actions of Bush II have killed at least 400,000 Iraqis how many times are we going to hang them?
You do realize that Saddam was our best buddy when he was committing the "crimes" he was hanged for right? Also the "crimes" were committed with weapons supplied by the USA.
