no wait till it needs a timing belt at 60 thousand miles u will wish you never heard of the vehicle and if it brake u will need about $2,000 to repair the 24 bent valves it a valve to piston interference motor ,so on the other hand it cheep on gas but ,it will brake even to a V-12 when the repairs come In, and u really need to know how to install a timing belt it has three one counter weight belt and a intermediary belt and a main timing belt and need very special tools to change them, and a lot of car experience , call the dealer and ask them how much to change all the timing related belts it will be or cost more that the car is worth, Buy a Ford Shelby Cobra GT-500 better car and 100 times the performance and cost less to fix and looks better that the car built by the people that bombed Perl Harbor

I did research on the 3000GT because my friend was going to buy the twin turbo last year. We looked at a local GT for sale and that engine compartment is very crowded. That automatically means that all repairs will be very very expensive. Turbos are great and I love them but they may require service after 10 + years. Add in the cost of the AWD system to repair all 4 axles, etc and that car will end up costing as much as a new car to get back to stock form.
I hope you don't even look at the non-turbo v6 because those cars are heavy and slow, 224 hp I believe but not faster than a Honda civic si.

The 3000GT is a beautiful car and lots of fun to drive but I would not recommend it for daily driving or to someone who does not have the funds to fix it when it breaks. Let's face it, all cars break if you keep them long enough and you have to plan for it. Right now these cars are expensive to fix and parts usually have to be shipped in as few stores or even dealers keep them in stock. Now that they are discontinued they will be much more difficult to maintain. The other issue is finding a mechanic who is familiar with your car. If you have an intermittent problem which is tough to diagnose on a car you know, it can take literally days and hundreds of dollars to sort out one you don't know. Unless you can afford a toy that you only drive occasionally I would suggest looking for something else. Best of luck and Happy New Year.

RE:
Mitsubishi 3000GT, worth to have?
I've always liked the look of the 3000GT but it went out of production in about 99. I've always thought of getting one though but wonder if it's a good car to have. I've heard that when it's in the shop and whatnot it's supposedly expensive in costs. Dosen't anyone have...

these cars will make a good investment. and will rank with the Toyota twin turbo supra,Buick grand national in holding its value.they are expensive to maintain but well worth it.make sure to have an Ase certified shop check out a car before you purchase it.or any other used car.this car is also known as the dodge stealth, both manufactured by the same company.Mitsubishi is an excellent car, eclipse, lancer.also Subaru,Rx,impreza.Nissan 240,260,280,300,350z.

Stay away from it...the 3000GT was heavy, complicated, and very expensive to fix, not to mention none too reliable. Nissan, Subaru, are also spotty on reliability.
The typical Mitsu lasts 60-90K miles before everything falls apart.
If you go Japanese, go Honda or Toyota.
Good Luck!!
