I have a 2004 Silverado 4x4 with a 5.3l engine. When I start my truck, usually only the first time each day, it feels like it may be partially in gear. I can hear and feel a clunk just for a split second and then it's fine.

try starting it in neutral.. if it does not jerk then it probably is in gear to some degree or the starter gear is in some way engaging the fly wheel roughly. most likely though, it probably doen't always go completely out of gear when you put it in park. also your flywheel could still be engaged to the transmission.. if it does not jerk by starting it in neutral.. when you park it for the night, kill the engine in neutral and then put it in park.. if it does not jerk the next morning.. have the flywheel checked..
