y=0.82x / (14700- 0.57x) multiply both sides by 14700-.57x
y(14700-.57x)=.82x distribute y
14700y-.57xy=.82xadd .57xy to each side
14700y=.82x+.57xy factor out x
14700=x(.85+.57y) divide both sides by .85+.57y

that "equation" (actually, a function) has an infinite number of solutions. If you specify a y you can find an x that will make it work, or if you choose an x you can plug it in and evaluate it for y.
For example, if x = 0, y = (.82(0))/(the denominator) = 0
if x = 1, y = (.82 x 1)/(14700-.57) ~= 5.578 x 10^(-5) etc
Or do you mean you need to solve this equation for x? I see a few other people have done this for you. The idea is, get the x by itself by using inverse operations. Try it!

y=0.82x / (14700- 0.57x)
For y = 0 ==>
Observe: 0.82 = 82/100 and 0.57 = 57/100

Distributive:
(82x/100:14700) - (82x/100 : 57x/100) =
Simplify: (82x/147) - (82/57) =
LCM(147, 57) = 147*57
82x/147 = 82/57
82x*57 = 82*147
Cancelling the 82's:
57x = 147
x = 49/19 or 2 integers11/19.
S = {x E R | x = 49/19 or 2 integers11/19}
Plse verify.

y=0.82x / (14700- 0.57x)
y(14700- 0.57x)=0.82x
14700y-0.57xy=0.82x
x= 14700y-0.57xy/0.82

now,if u have values for y or have another equation,using the above u can solve it..

hope this helps..

you can solve it in terms of y

0.82x = (14700 - 0.57x) * y

0.82x = 14700y - 0.57xy

0.82x + 0.57xy = 14700y

x(0.82 + 0.57y) = 14700y

x = 14700y/(0.82 + 0.57y)

It ends up being a graph. You plug in various values for x, and figure out y from the equation.

So if x=1, then y= 0.82/14700-0.57
=0.82/14699.43 (work it from there and plot {x,y} as a point on a graph).

y = 0.82x / (14700 - 0.57x)

14700y - 0.57xy = 0.82x

14700y = 0.82x + 0.57xy = x (0.82 + 0.57y)

14700y / (0.82 + 0.57y) = x

Okay?

I think it can be solved by differentiating the equation.
dy/dx=(14700-0.57x)(0.82)-(0.82x)(0.57)
solve it now

2006-12-29 22:28:56 · answer #8 · answered by Anonymous · 0 1

y = (.82x)/(14700 - .57x)
14700y - .57xy = .82x
.82x - .57xy = 14700y
(x(82 - 57y))/100 = 14700y
x(82 - 57y) = 1470000y
x = 1470000/(82 - 57y)

It can only be solved in terms of y. As y changes, so does x.
